Coming Out For Air
I’m not in my home office right now.
I’m in my home, but not in the home office, but they are indeed installing a mini split air conditioner right there right now.
So I’m recording this audio like on my phone and then we’re going to run it through some processors to make it sound as non-garbagey as possible.
But if I sound a little different from usual today, that’s why.
Your Daily Lex.
It’s always fun when you’ve got the, you know, uh, contractors coming to your home.
Um, this company that’s installing this, they always send a text before people arrive and an email.
And so I knew that they were supposed to come between nine and 11 in the morning.
And I knew that they always come early.
I’m always the first house they go to.
I don’t know why.
Um, but so my assumption was they’d come at eight.
So I did a slightly shorter than normal workout, uh, was rushing to get ready.
And then like at seven 55, I got the text in the email saying, Hey, they’ll be there soon.
Uh, and indeed they were.
And they’re very nice.
And they’re looking inside the house.
They’re looking at the circuit breakers.
And then they’re like, let’s look at where the outside unit has to go for this mini split.
That’ll cool off your office.
And the salesperson, when he had been here and been like, look, we can put it in this spot where it’s, you know, the minimum 18 inches from your other outdoor condenser unit.
And it’s still 18 inches from your home.
The worst case, if for some reason they can’t fit it there, we’ll just take out, you know, this bush and put it there.
And I was like, okay, well, that’s not an option.
We’re not removing a bush.
So if you can do it here, it’s great.
If you can’t do it there, then I don’t want to do it.
And they’re like, no problem.
We’ll do it here.
I knew that this was not necessarily how it was going to go down.
So the actual installer people come in, it’s a big crew.
They came with two trucks and there’s five guys here and they’re looking and they’re like, yeah, we see what he told you.
He was going to do.
There’s no way we can do that, but we’re going to figure out something.
And I tell them, look, we’re just not removing bushes.
Like that doesn’t work for me.
So they take a look around.
I get Liam on the school bus and then come back and they’re like, okay.
The guy’s like, I’m Mike.
And this is a different person who’s done before.
And I couldn’t understand what he was saying.
And eventually I thought he would, I realized he was saying I’m Mike, like he was introducing himself.
But I thought, I thought he was saying something different.
I couldn’t figure it out.
But eventually I understand this is a guy named Mike.
He’s a professional AC person.
And Mike is like, look, we can’t put it there because the plot is this part where he told you we have one condenser blown on the other condenser.
And that’s no good.
I didn’t get into with him because we ended up with a fine solution.
I didn’t get into with him.
I can’t imagine any situation where the basement heat is on at the same time as the office air conditioning.
Like it’s just the person who would turn on the basement stuff is me.
The person who turned on the office, that was me.
I’ll never have them both on at the same time.
Didn’t get into all that.
But so he’s like, so we’ve got this one option where we can pull up these two bushes and put this condenser in with your pool equipment.
And one bush I don’t care about, but there was like one of our tall Arborvitae, I guess you call them that you know, provide some privacy from the street.
It’s like, well, we’re definitely not doing that.
What’s your other options?
Or we can move this other condenser from a couple of years ago, you know, regular what do you call it?
Like, you know, just the central air condenser.
We can move that a little bit and then we’ll have room to put this condenser there too.
I was like, well, obviously that’s way the better option.
It’s like, yeah, I figured it’s just more work for us.
So I didn’t know.
It’s like, well, clearly the option where you remove two bushes when I said I didn’t even want you to remove one is not the one I’m going to pick.
If there’s another option of like doing everything in a way that’s great.
And again, we get that.
So they’re doing that right now, meaning I’m not in the whole office, but they’re very nice.
My dog has gotten overhating them and potentially by the end of the day, it’ll be much cooler in my office.
They did say like, Hey, we need you to turn off the furnace that we’re going to be moving or the condenser around that we’re going to be using moving.
Can you just make sure, figure out which one that is?
Like, is it your upstairs or your downstairs one?
They all guessed it’s got to be your downstairs one.
I’m like, well, I have no idea.
And then I, you know, from my phone was turning on the downstairs one and it was not that one.
We all had a big laugh at our inability to predict, but anyway, it’s happening.
I get to cut them a big check later on, which I will hate, but hopefully I will forget all about as I cool off in that office later.
So that’s, that’s my day.
And today’s Wednesday, obviously Friday, Cody gets to get his sutures out, which will be very exciting because we keep having to put them in this ridiculous, embarrassing shirt, which he hates and we hate.
So after Friday, he won’t need that either.
So everything’s coming up.
Freedman’s once again.
Happy Wednesday, folks.
We’ll talk soon.
Peace, education, love and respects.
