Weekend Update
It’s weekend catch-up time right here on your daily Lex.
So let’s do it your Daily Lex So on Saturday We drove the younger two kids to camp to join Ani who’s already there And that was mostly uneventful, you know when we first get there we were not cheating the system, but we were leveraging our ability to drop Sierra and Liam off a camp a day early because really the first day of their new session would be Sunday But Ani had a performance day Saturday that we wanted to see so I had arranged with the camp that my kids could spend the Night there Saturday night so we don’t have to you know, do any other annoyingly painfully logistical things so We get there and you know Liam was gonna spend that night in the bunk that will be his bunk But which currently has older kids and you know, that’s okay It’s not ideal, but it’s fine and Sierra be staying in a bunk with kids already her age And that’s the same bunk that she’d be staying in, you know for her full session So we get to see Ani which is great.
We get to see Ani do improv, which is great Get to unpack the younger two, which is also great.
And you know, we have lunch together.
We’re hanging out But I have this other stress that’s separate from kid drop-off stress, which is a real stress, right?
Like I know they’re all gonna be great I know they’re all gonna have a good time but different kids are different personalities.
I know Liam can be a bit shy Especially in this situation where he didn’t specifically have anything to do that day But we were giving him some ideas of things to do that afternoon once we would leave But I was thinking about leaving because at the same time I was dropping my kids at camp My buddy Dan and Dan Warren who many of you know Or know of but my buddy Dan and his wife and baby were on route towards my house They were really on route to a beach vacation with some friends But they were stopping as they often do in New Jersey in the middle and they were gonna come visit us on Saturday and sleep over Saturday night to Sunday But I had warned them, you know, hey, I’m taking my kids to camp.
You will probably beat us to my house And if you do, you know, I’ll be able to let you in remotely I’ll tell you the key or the the key combination for the push-button locks funny enough You know when I was watching Dan’s progress because he and I are on find my friends And he also was using an iOS 17 beta feature to give me his estimated arrival time I saw when Dan finally left from Massachusetts.
I saw what he and his family were eating In Connecticut, I guess and Ani was supposed to have this improv match or improv show at a specific time But one kid was late So they did the magic show first instead of the improv show and watching other people’s kids do magic or greater magic not fun But so’s there was a chance that we could have arrived at my house just at the same time that the Dan and his family did but That wasn’t meant to be because of how The camp shows were going so I’m keeping Dan posted on my arrival time.
He does get to the house before we do Which was okay.
Everything was set up for them I had given him the wrong code for the front door because I forgot that Multiple years ago.
We changed what that?
What the mechanism was that unlocks that door but fine got him in They got settled in they were feeding the baby I was worried we might get home after the baby went to bed and I wanted to beat the baby’s bedtime and we did it All worked out We even stopped Lauren and I had a supercharger that we don’t typically stop at one.
That’s in Easton, Pennsylvania And who’s at a sheets and I’m not super familiar with the sheets chain, but boy does sheets play into The thing where their business’s name sounds a bit like a bad word And yeah, it’s uh, you have to put up with a lot of sheets when you’re there see what I did Bought some great potato chips for the ride home and then got to spend a lot of time with Dan and cat we Stand up late just hanging out and then had breakfast with them and some more baby bonding time before they headed out Then we had other friends come over that same Sunday yesterday And we were doing some swimming stuff and just backyard hanging out stuff all of which was great and got to see a bunch of people I’ve done other theater things with and I would say that 98% of the conversation was all about theater Which was funny to me because these are all folks everybody who is visiting are people who do shows constantly as you may know I do roughly it seems like about one show a year at the tops besides the improv stuff But these folks do show after show after show and so there was a lot of theatrical conversation.
I was able to hold my own For me, of course every conversation tied to either Avenue Q or School of Rock the show I did a year ago because those those were the ways I can contribute.
It was good.
It was good But yeah, it was an action-packed weekend and Now it’s an action-packed week Because man, I’ve got rehearsals every night this week because the show is in just two short weeks Wow Not this Saturday, but next Saturday is opening night.
That’s crazy.
So good times Anyway, I hope you have a wonderful week ahead and I hope I do too because I think we all deserve that right?
Yeah.
Anyway, happy Monday and more soon Lex
