Yeah, it’s another episode where we’re going to talk a little bit about exercise.

We might talk about other things.

I don’t know.

I don’t have an agenda.

I just have an exercise topic to start.

So let’s start with the start topic after this.

Your Daily Lex.

Usually I bike, right?

My typical workout is a half an hour ride on the Peloton bike.

After each ride, I do a five-minute strength class and a five-minute stretch class.

Nothing crazy for those, but a way to make sure I’m stretching after each workout and a little bit of strength training, because why not?

It’s good for you, I think.

So sometimes, typically once a week, I do a treadmill class.

I used to do running classes, but I really didn’t enjoy the running, so I started doing speed walking classes.

And speed walking feels a little bit ridiculous.

It probably looks a little bit ridiculous.

But it’s a pretty intense workout, so I’ve been enjoying those.

Yesterday, for no particular reason, I decided, hey, I’m going to do a walk-run class.

So a treadmill class, we’re here, as you might expect, walking and running.

Basically, in a lot of Peloton running classes, they have you in your recoveries, like when you’re cooling down a bit, mid-run, they have you jog, but in a walk-run class, they have you walk.

Great.

So I tried a walk-run class, and I really did well.

I enjoyed it.

I didn’t feel dead at any point, and I got speeds that I was proud of.

You know, when I was running, I was doing – still loving that any real runner would be impressed by it.

But I was doing, you know, seven and a half to eight and a half minute miles at the peak running times, and then slowing down when I was walking.

Although, when you walk, you don’t want your overall average to go down too much, so even though you’re supposed to be walking, you’re kind of doing like a speed walk or a jog a little bit because you want to get – anyway, fine.

But I didn’t hate the workout as much as I usually do.

You know, one factor that I don’t think actually had any effect on my enjoyment level or success at it was, you know, as you may recall, I recently installed a ventless air conditioner, a mini-split, as they say, in my office, which meant that I got rid of my water cooler, which was this giant tower-shaped fan that has a water reservoir, an air cooler.

That’s called a water-based air cooler.

Anyway, I got rid of that, and when I say I got rid of it, I didn’t throw it away.

I brought it to the basement, and I pointed it at the treadmill.

There’s already a fan that points at the bike, and typically, historically, I have moved it over to the treadmill every time I use it, which is one of the reasons I don’t use the treadmill as often because it’s annoying to move the fan.

I got it unplugged and plugged in a different place, so now I put the air cooler over by the treadmill.

The air cooler did a fine job of cooling my legs, less my torso, just given the height of the air cooler and how it works, you can’t really angle it up, but fine.

But I really was having a decent run.

I was surprised and pleased.

It was a good, sweaty class, fine.

I liked it so much that I was thinking later yesterday, hey, maybe I’m going to do another one of those running classes tomorrow, now meaning today.

You can handle the relative dates.

But I thought, hey, I didn’t hate that.

It was fun.

Running’s, you know, when I’m not running like crazy and I’m on this cushy treadmill or whatever, I’m going to do another one tomorrow.

Then today, I woke up and my legs were like, no, you’re not going to do that.

To me, it was funny.

That was like basically 24 hours for my legs to be like, hey, we are now sore from your run yesterday.

So I did not run again today.

I did a low impact, low speed bike ride to just kind of work the legs out and they feel fine when I’m sitting.

And then every time I go to say another, like, hey, remember when you ran yesterday?

So I think I’m going to wait a couple more days and then do it again.

Also as you can imagine, still in tech rehearsals for Avenue Q, we’ve got this invited dress Friday night, which I guess is by my calculations again, the tomorrow.

So we’ve got that.

The show seems to be in pretty good shape.

The thing that I think about when I do a show where you have to learn lines and rehearse as opposed to improv, where you have to rehearse but not learn lines.

The thing that I think about is I want to get everything down.

I want to know for sure that I know all my lines, I want to know all my notes, all my lyrics and all my choreography and blocking or whatever, because I want all that to be second nature so that then I don’t have to think about it and I can just explore the part and be the part, be the character.

I finally got there this week, which is exactly when it’s supposed to happen.

So I’m feeling pretty good.

So if you’re going to Avenue Q, I look forward to delighting and entertaining you.

The puppets are funnier.

And if you’re not going to Avenue Q, boy, my dear friend, you’re missing out.

Anyway, I’m not going to run again until Monday is my guess.

Maybe, yeah, I was going to say Sunday, but no, because I’ve got a show Sunday.

I can’t remember.

So Monday, I’ll probably run again.

Anyway, happy Thursday, Lex.
