I talked about beeping and that carbon monoxide detector that was dying It reminded me of a story that many of you might know if you you know Followed me on Twitter back in the day But there’s a story that I my friend James Thompson really loves the creator of pcalc available now with updates for iOS 17 and everything But in this story I was in a previous home that we lived in and in Ani’s room There was a high-pitched beeping noise like really high-pitched and not loud, but you could hear it And I could not figure out the source It was the kind of thing, you know The humans have some echolocation ability because the kind of thing where wherever you walked it felt like the noise was The same distance away from you.

We really couldn’t find him Lauren has an uncle who’s very handy uncle Mort.

So uncle Mort came over uncle Mort and this was a long time ago Uncle Mort was old then he’s very old now, but you know as you get older you lose some of the higher frequencies He could not hear the sound But he was concerned that we could hear it.

And so he disassembles the the fan and the light We’re still hearing it We shut off power to the room.

We’re still hearing it.

We cannot figure it out He’s like I don’t like that.

You can still hear the sound that I’m more to cannot hear you need to call an electrician We even used an app to capture the sound so we could like see what frequency it was at and everything And I’m live tweeting this whole thing which is how some people already know this story and People are offering suggestions or things to look at and it’s like maddening.

I posted some recordings at the time of the beep I don’t have those recordings anymore.

But yeah, it was it was unpleasant like wasn’t loud, but it was present It was there So we call electricians the electricians come over in there and they are Stumped and there’s two of them and they’re going through the room.

They’re really trying to figure out and then one of them Feels like it’s coming from a toy bin and he reaches into the toy bin and he finds ding-dong.

It’s Dora a Children’s book obviously about Dora the Explorer and it has a doorbell built into it that you can Press on different pages to bring the doorbell And its batteries were slowly dying and it had decided that it was going to make this high-pitched wine And I had to pay for the electricians to identify that book.

I Got rid of that book There was pressure to keep that book, but I was mad at that book forever.

I did not keep that book.

So that’s what happened But I was thinking about that when I mean, I knew that it was a smoke Well, I thought I knew that was a smoke detector peeping less there two nights ago when in fact it was the carbon monoxide detector But everything’s fine.

There was no carbon monoxide.

It was just dying.

Not us the device.

Anyway, anyway Speaking of us not dying Yesterday on he comes over school and texts me and Lauren like I don’t feel great.

I really don’t feel great how just feel kind of sick and We’re like, all right, why don’t you?

Stay in your room and take a COVID test.

And of course it came back positive instantly and that’s when we spring into Emergency disaster mode here at the Friedman estate Where I need sequestered to the room the air filter goes on Right outside on his room Everybody’s got to be in rooms with closed doors If you’re out in any main area you have to be wearing a mask on he really doesn’t come out in the main area all meals Being delivered.

We delivered meals to each we all separated It turns out that a Rosh Hashanah dinner at my in-laws house was a super spreader event several people already have coming from it The other four of us right now are testing negative And so I slept in the basement Lauren in our room Sierra and Liam in their respective rooms, but everybody ate separately And we’ll see trying to avoid it Because I really don’t want it for a second time It is on a second time the total counts of known kovat diagnoses in my house on e now to Liam to Lex and Lauren one each Sierra zero Sierra really don’t have it So every time I mentioned that people are like oh you should sample some of Sierra’s blood What is wrong with you people leave my kids blood alone?
