For me, at least, I had truly an action-packed weekend, like, so many plans.

Sometimes I tell a story about over the summer, when I was working on Avenue Q, my kids were at camp, Lauren wasn’t in the show, she mentioned to me over the weekend, she said, I have plans for every night next week except Monday, so I have to make plans for Monday.

And I was like, what are you talking about?

If I said the sentence, I have plans for every night next week except Monday, my follow-up would be like, so I need to figure out other stuff to cancel for later in the week, or so I’m looking forward to my night at home on Monday.

But that was not Lauren’s take, and yeah, people are different.

So I had a very action-packed for me weekend.

On Saturday, had to renew my kids’ passports, in part because, actually on Friday, I went to see a production of The Chorus Line, A Chorus Line, that I had some friends in, some friends directing, some folks from Avenue Q, some folks from other shows, but then Saturday we had to renew my kids’ passports, because they expire in April of next year, and we have secretly, without telling them, so don’t tell them, booked a cruise for Christmas week.

And cruise lines like you to have six months’ expiration left on your passport when you cruise, which they wouldn’t, so I had to go renew them.

And boy, renewing passports is expensive.

But got the passport renewal stuff done, watched a show with Ani, played video games with Liam, helped Ciara get to Adams, helped Ciara get to a babysitting gig that then led to my going out with two other couples for a lovely dinner, like a really good dinner at a place none of us had ever been before going to see a different show.

We went to see Guys and Dolls.

I saw two shows in two days.

Lauren saw four shows in four days, which is crazy, but saw a production of Guys and Dolls at another local community theater.

As I’ve said, when you do a lot of community theater, you have to see more and more shows.

Then Sunday, Ciara, of course, had Adams Family Rehearsal, and I had an Eagles game to watch.

And the Eagles game wasn’t being shown locally, at least not in high definition, so that was a problem for me.

So I convinced several friends that we should go watch it at a local bar so they could watch Giants and Jets at the same time as I was watching the Eagles game.

And of course, the Eagles won and the Giants lost, which is one of the best combinations of games you can have.

The Giants-Jets game was an offense to football.

It was a horrible game.

Both teams played terribly.

It was funny, though, when the Giants had to play their third-string quarterback.

The injury to their second-string quarterback, Tyra Taylor, is not funny.

The third-string quarterback, they really wouldn’t let throw, and the stadium seemed to be chanting, let him throw, let him throw, because they kept making him hand off.

And I believe his first pass went for zero yards, and his second pass went for negative five yards.

So, all very amusing.

I had to get Liam home from Rock Shop during the ending of the Eagles game, which meant I had to listen to some of the game on the radio.

And the announcer on the radio for the Eagles is delightful, but I’d rather watch, so that was a little stressful.

Get him home in time for a bar mitzvah lesson, which he did great with.

Then rush Ani over to Ani’s dinner and movie plans, because Ani went to see some movie that’s also available on Peacock.

I don’t understand these kids today.

They’re like, no, we want to go to the theater.

Man, if I could watch the movie at home, because it’s streaming for free on a service I already have, I would always do that.

And then I met a buddy at another bar for dinner, and to catch up.

And it was amusing to me that I was at a bar twice, at two bars in the same day.

I went to a bar for lunch, I went to a bar for dinner.

And I was mentioning to my kids how I thought this was funny, and that I’m not a typical bar person.

And so then when my daughter Sierra was saying goodnight to me over text, she said, you know, goodnight, daddy.

I love you almost as much as you love bars.

And I thought that was a good joke, because I guess I love bars now.

Bar none.

Anyway, no holds barred, and I hope that you will not bar yourself from enjoying this podcast this week.

But if you’re like, wow, I wonder what Lex did this weekend, which would be a very weird sentence.

Wow, I wonder what Lex did this weekend.

But listen, if that’s where your head was, I’ve now caught you up.

Big week ahead, of course.

I’m one minute away from a call for work.

I’m trying to look into insurance for next year, or actually for six months from now, when my Cobra is up.

So I’ve got quite the day planned.

Liam has an orthodontist appointment, Ani has a doctor’s appointment.

Kara had a thing that got canceled, and I love when things get canceled.

So fantastic.

And then Elf Rehearsal, Adam’s Family Rehearsal.

It’s a busy day in the Friedman family.

But boy, buckle up, because you’re coming along for the ride.

By which I mean, busy days mean more topics for this very podcast, your daily Lex.
