You’re never going to bet a thousand.

I mean, I’m certainly not.

For one, I don’t even bet.

When I do bet, I bet left-handed, but that’s neither here nor there.

It’s…

well, anyway, it doesn’t matter.

You’re never going to bet a thousand.

But, uh, I do okay.

Your Daily Lex We had the 8th night of Hanukkah last night, and, uh, I tend to be pretty good at giving gifts.

I, uh, I tend to hear from my gift recipients that I did a good job, which I’m proud of, of course.

And, uh, there was one night of Hanukkah this year, I think night 7, where Lauren was clearly not enamored of the two gifts she happened to open that night.

Normally, it’s a one-gift-a-night thing, but if you end up with ten Hanukkah presents, then maybe one night you open more than one.

Anyway, I was very pleased with one of my Hanukkah gifts.

Years ago, probably for Mother’s Day, Lauren had gotten from me a necklace with the kids’ names on them.

But our oldest goes by a different name now, it goes by Ani.

And so, I wanted to get updated, an updated necklace that reflected, um, that name.

And, uh, I found something similar.

I talked to Sierra, is this the right chain length?

We were comparing, and we decided, yes, this was the right one.

And Lauren opens it, and she’s looking at it, and she tries it on.

She’s very excited conceptually, but she didn’t like the actual execution.

For one thing, just the fact that, uh, Ani’s name is now one letter shorter affected where the names fell on the necklace.

Uh, so Lauren was thinking, I really kind of want a slightly longer chain.

And the old one had been kind of a rose gold color, and this one was a silver color.

Because Lauren typically wears silver.

And I’m like, yeah, for some reason for these name necklaces, I prefer that rose gold coloration.

Uh, because I think this one is too shiny.

Uh, I’m like, let’s just get another one.

Like, what are you going to do?

You can’t return it.

Like, unless you know three people, nope, you only have to know one person.

Unless you know somebody else who wants to wear a necklace that has my three kids’ names on them.

Uh, we can’t return it, but it’s okay.

Let’s get a necklace they actually want and they’ll actually wear.

Uh, and so we handled that.

No big deal.

And then with that out of the way, that, that, not even crisis, but you know, that, I guess, goof up on my part of.

Uh, could have gotten more consultation since it’s the thing that Lauren would wear.

You know, making sure it was exactly the right thing.

So we got it fixed.

No big deal.

A new one will come, and I’ll take another couple weeks because it’s made to order.

Whatever.

Then there was also a sweater I had gotten Lauren just because I had seen it.

And I thought, Hey, this is a cool sweater and Lauren would like it.

And Lauren was very polite and said, thank you right away.

But it was clear, uh, she had no interest in that sweater.

And I was like, Hey, if you don’t like it, let’s just return it.

We can exchange it.

We’ll get something else.

We’ll get something you do want.

And, uh, I was saying, you know, I’m surprised that you don’t like it because it looks to me like so many things that you, you know, you’ve worn.

And she’s like, yeah, it definitely was my style.

It’s just not my style now.

Like I don’t wear my stuff that, that, that I used to wear that looks like this.

I was like, that’s fine.

I did not take it personally.

Like I said, I’m not going to mat a thousand and it’s closed for her.

If she doesn’t want it, then we shouldn’t have it.

Don’t keep it.

Uh, and luckily I had seen the sweater on Amazon.

Amazon makes those kinds of returns and exchanges very easy.

In fact, as soon as I finished recording this episode, I’m going to go to the UPS store and drop off the sweater so I can return it.

The replacement sweater that we picked out together has already arrived.

Now, funny enough, as we were looking at replacement sweaters, I saw Lauren scrolling through sweaters.

And she scrolled by a different sweater that I had also ordered, which was her eighth night gift, her last night gift.

And, uh, she had scrolled right by it.

And so I was like, hey, uh, if you scroll by stuff, does that mean you didn’t like it?

She’s like, no, no, no.

I like this one, this one.

And she pointed to the one I got.

I said, oh, it’s good.

It’s good to know that you like that one too.

It was kind of funny because she immediately knew what was happening, that indeed I had ordered, uh, another sweater.

Um, and then when she realized which one it must be, she’s like, well, let me look at all these different colors and see which ones I would have liked.

And she’s going through the different colors and then she’s like, I like this white and gray one the best.

And I was like, well, that is wonderful and reassuring news.

So sometimes you can’t bet a thousand.

But on that sweater, I got exactly the right one.

So hooray for me.

Uh, anyway, that was, uh, the gift giving thoughts on my mind.

Uh, at any rate, it is Friday, which means obviously we have a weekend coming up.

I have my four final Elf performances.

Uh, glad to be doing them and then I’ll be glad to be done.

Uh, and then it’s going to be, you know, truly holiday time upon us.

So very exciting all the way around.

I hope you have a wonderful weekend.

Uh, if you’re in New Jersey and you’re not coming to see Elf, you are truly dead to me.

But other than that, have a great time and, uh, we’ll talk Monday.

Lex! Lex! Lex! Lex!
