Biking Mandate
I have two separate, but equally important topics for this episode.
The first one is, of course, the next song from the Liam & Lex album, Blueprint.
The song is called On My Bike, and I’m very excited to share it with you.
And the second is a mandate.
Not a mandate, but a mandate.
I’m trying to make a friend here, people, okay?
Your Daily Lex First off, happy International Trans Day of Visibility.
Trans Visibility Day?
Both.
But, yeah.
It is very much the Trans Day of Visibility.
I think that’s the official name.
It is very much the opinion of this podcast and all right-thinking people that trans rights are human rights and that trans people are people.
And if you don’t agree, you are a crappy person.
And you shouldn’t listen to the show, quite frankly.
Shout out to friend of the show, Zoe Knox, on a big day today, announcing she’s named Zoe Knox.
Very cool.
But anyway, I had these big two topics today.
One, as I said, is a date with a guy.
Now, I’m not making an announcement about me.
This is a friend date.
So, what’s the best way to tell this story without oversharing details?
Sierra has one of her closest friends at school whose dad has come up from time to time in conversations.
And the student’s dad seems like my kind of person.
First of all, he’s a lifelong Philadelphia Eagles fan.
Second of all, he’s credited with creating a very famous game that you have heard of.
Third, he still works for a company that makes games today.
Four, he likes irreverent comedy.
And I kept hearing about this guy.
I’m like, I should really meet him.
And so, eventually, he and I followed each other on Instagram, but still had never spoken in person or exchanged any messages in any way beyond following each other.
So, finally, a few days ago, Lauren was driving home from rehearsal for Fiddler.
I still feel exactly the same way about that Fiddler or worse.
But Lauren was driving us home because my arm sometimes gets annoyed when I’m driving, so I try not to.
And I wrote this gentleman the following message.
We followed each other on Instagram.
That’s an exciting step.
I have three questions.
One, you seem to know Redacted, who was my favorite teacher in high school.
How do you know him?
Two, what’s the least awkward way for us to actually meet in person, given our shared love of the Eagles, games, and parenting theater kids?
Three, am I coming on too strong?
Luckily, he responded almost instantly.
Lauren and Sierra were both in the car while I was watching him typing.
And I’m like, quick, close the app so we can’t see that it’s read instantly.
And I’m like, he was replying instantly.
It’s fine.
But we did arrange to meet up, which is happening today.
So, could be super awkward.
Could be great.
Or it could be anything in between.
We’ll find out.
But I’m looking forward to it.
Anyway, the next track on the album Blueprint from Liam & Lex is called On My Bike.
I think Liam did a great job with this song, and it’s pretty true for him because he loves riding his bike.
A skill I don’t officially have, unless it’s a stationary bike, and then I’m pretty good.
Thank you very much.
So anyway, here is the next track from the album.
It’s called On My Bike.
And in the not too distant future, I’ll share a video for this song, too.
Anyway, here’s the song.
Two wheels, infinite fun.
My legs weren’t born to run.
They were born to pedal on my speedy bike.
Biking all day, that’s what I like.
On my bike.
On my bike.
On my bike.
On my bike.
One day, my helmet’s on.
Fixed it up, and now I’m gone.
I will ride all over on my awesome bike.
Biking all day, that’s what I like.
On my bike.
On my bike.
On my bike.
On my bike.
The wind is in my hair.
The weather’s too bright like ink.
Where am I going?
I don’t care, as long as I’m biking.
Biking.
Biking.
Biking.
Biking.
On my bike.
On my bike.
On my bike.
Head home.
My bike’s away.
You can be sure that the very next day, I’ll hop right back on my trusty bike.
Biking all day, that’s what I like.
On my bike.
On my bike.
On my bike.
Lex.
