Some of you, or none of you, may be wondering how do I prepare when I have my big sales webinar today as I press record is 25 minutes from now when it kicks off.

And whether you’re wondering or not, I am going to tell you right after this.

Your daily Lex.

I would say it’s a balmy 12 degrees in my office right now because of the treadmill desk and because it’s summer, I have the air conditioner running.

And that mini split in here, well, it’s set to 20 degrees Celsius because when I use the Sensibo, this little device that makes it be wireless, even though it’s not wireless, it defaults to making it go into Celsius.

And I’ve never been able to figure out why.

If you can’t do the conversion in your head, that means it’s set to 68 degrees in here.

I think it’s probably actually like 65 degrees in here.

It’s cold.

It doesn’t feel cold when I’m walking on the treadmill, but it feels cold all other times.

And that’s okay.

I want to, I’d rather feel cold than feel hot.

I don’t want to have to turn on the air conditioner during the thing.

So I’d rather be cold.

I’ve been reviewing my slides, but not slide by slide and not rehearsing at this point.

Like I’m not running through the deck and rereading everything.

I’m just, I’m looking at it.

I’m looking at my slide overviews.

I’m looking at my notes.

And I’ll have a multi-document setup for this presentation.

So I’ve got, I had to decide, did I want to do this in Keynote directly or did I want to export to PDF and share from Preview?

And what I decided to do was share from Keynote.

And so the easiest way to do that was in my case, at least, I set the presentation to play in a window.

Normally wants to present on a screen, but you can tell it, no, Keynote presents in a window.

And then that’s the window that I’ll share.

I wish that changing the slide in the human view would automatically change the slide on the presentation view.

So like when I clicked on the next slide on my own, it would advance, but it doesn’t.

In some ways, in many ways, in fact, that’s helpful because it means you can have precise control over when the presentation advances.

But so I’ve got that.

I’ve got a Pages doc open that’s filled with all my notes.

I don’t need the notes, but I like the notes.

I’m going to have them up and I’m going to be scrolling through them the entire time.

They’ll be there the whole time.

That’s a reference for those of you who like the TV show Game Changer.

But I have those there because I don’t want to miss key things.

What’s funny is when I was doing some of my rehearsing, I would occasionally improvise things, ad libs and things, and then write them down.

And I was like, I probably don’t need to write this down since I’m ad libbing it right now.

I could also ad lib it during the actual presentation.

But when they’re great points, you don’t want to lose them.

You don’t want to miss them.

So I have some of those.

So I’ve been reviewing my notes doc, but I want to be fresh enough and hip enough that I am not doing any more full rehearsals.

I’m mostly excited to not have to do any more promotion of this event.

I did one final post today that was celebrating.

Happy Lex doesn’t have to promote his webinar anymore.

By the way, still feel free to register.

I did get two more registrants today.

So how about that?

It’s set to automatically record, which is good because I didn’t want to forget to record it.

And I’ve also got a couple of people who are wanting to attend the webinar but can’t make it live.

So they have to be sent the recording.

I think I talked about that a bit yesterday.

But yeah, I mean, I’m fired up.

And then I’m going to have to go and do not disturb.

Going and do not disturb is always a little bit worrisome to me because like, what if somebody needs me?

I mean, it’s 90 minutes and nobody’s going to need me.

But like, it’s really like, what if somebody’s texting me or emailing me?

Hey, I can’t get into the webinar.

And then I don’t notice.

But frankly, that’s going to have to be their problem.

Sorry.

So I’ll do my best.

What else can I do?

All I can do is my best.

I am looking forward to it.

It’s funny.

I had a friend and colleague once who was like, you never get nervous.

That’s not true.

I’ll get nervous before a big presentation, but I like to use it, right?

I like to channel that energy.

I had a debate, for example.

I had two coffees today.

I could have a third thing.

Like, I could have another coffee or a tea or a Coke.

But I was like, you know, it’s fine.

I don’t want to be, I don’t want to get to the point of jumpiness.

And I’ll have just the adrenaline and energy of doing the presentation.

So no more caffeine is needed.

I have my water bottle here ready to go.

And it’s awkward when you have to take a drink during a presentation, especially a webinar style presentation where there’s no other sound or nothing else to look at except me drinking.

So that’ll be fun, but you got to be able to hydrate, especially when you’re monologuing for close to 90 minutes.

So I’ve got that ready.

And of course I peed because you don’t have to pee during the presentation.

Not an option.

I wish I could snack during it, but that is not meant to be.

So yeah, excited, looking forward to getting it done and getting some reactions from people.

And honestly, I’m excited to be recording it, even though I don’t think it’ll stay online for paying people forever.

I’ll have some clips that I can share when I’m pitching other people on workshops because just from promoting this webinar, I’ve had a couple of people book me to run workshops with their teams, which is great.

That’s the dream, folks.

Anyway, I hope you’re having a great Wednesday, April 30th.

It’s the last day of May, if you can believe it.

Nope, that’s not true.

It’s the last day of April.

It is almost the first day of May, if you can believe it.

You shouldn’t believe the first thing, but you should believe that.

I hope I remain this accurate and factual during my presentation.

Anyway, goodbye.

Lex.
