No Arm, No Foul
Here we are again with another episode of Your Daily Lex.
And first of all, let me give you the update on Liam, who does not have any broken bones as far as the x-rays show and as my dad, a long retired orthopedic surgeon, says from looking at the films and from doing a FaceTime exam of Liam at camp.
It’s Thursday, and on Saturday we get the kids from camp, which I’m excited about.
And I’ll give you some more info on the camp situation in just a second.
But first, don’t you feel like we should have a theme song?
So I think I’ve mentioned on this show, and if not, I’ll recap, that Sierra likes to write letters, and Liam doesn’t, but Liam will use the little chat app that I made for us.
The first time they went to camp, we set up a Slack, and then the camp eventually shut down Slack.
So I built a little standalone website so that they could write to us, because they can’t email, whatever.
This is the way they can communicate.
They don’t have their phones there.
And Liam has been pretty lax about writing to Lex and the rest of the family via that chat app, and he’s explained that he’s busy, and the limited time he has, he doesn’t go to the computer room, the limited extra free time he has doesn’t go to the computer place, he goes to extra band practice or whatever, fine.
Sierra prefers to write letters, so she sent us letters.
She sent a bunch her first session at camp.
Her second session at camp these last three weeks, she has sent two, count them, two letters, the second of which will arrive later on today.
So I’m very excited to go see them in person.
What I don’t know is like, is Liam able to play his instruments right now with the splint that he’s wearing and with his hurting hand?
I have no idea.
So we’ll find out Saturday, and maybe we’ll have fewer rock performances to watch if he can’t play.
Maybe we’ll get fewer.
Not that it’s an option.
Not that I feel like I’m forced to watch them.
I’d like to watch Liam play.
Anyway, that’s that.
I’ve been watering my driveway and feeling like a weirdo every time I do that.
I got a new hose nozzle, and so my hose is spraying even better than before.
Really, the old one sprayed just fine, but it would never turn off.
So now I have one that functions again and can turn off.
I’m pretty sure it’s exactly the same as the old one that died, but in a different color.
So maybe this one will die eventually too, but since it was $7, I decided it’s just fine and I’m not going to lose any sleep about it.
The new Madden is out.
Yesterday, or a couple days ago really, I got charged for it, and then yesterday I came home from back-to-back rehearsals, one for band and one for the musical, and Ani and Lauren were watching a movie that they were already into.
So I was like, I’m going to go check out Madden.
And Madden on the Switch 2 was like, I have to download now.
I was like, okay, fine, download.
And it was like, okay, I need three plus hours.
It’s 50-something gigabytes.
So I said, all right, I’ll play it tomorrow.
Tomorrow is now today.
And this morning I woke up way too early, which happens sometimes, and I was like, I’m going to go play Madden now here at 5.45 in the morning.
And Madden was like, you’re not allowed to play me yet.
But it wasn’t really clear about why.
I was like, go to the store, figure out why.
And I go to the store, and the store says, well, Madden comes out on August 14th.
And I’m like, it is August 14th.
And then a couple hours later, it said, okay, now you can play it.
I haven’t played it yet because I’ve been working, but I’m going to play it because that’s what grown men do.
They play video game football.
Tonight, going out with a friend, and then we’re going to go see the musical The Sound of Music.
I’m not, like, super fired up to go see The Sound of Music, but I’m super fired up to support the other friends we’re going to see who are in that show.
And I’m sure they’re fired up to do the show, but I am doing a third coffee today because I want to make sure I don’t fall asleep during The Sound of Music, which I don’t think is a show that’s going to hold my interest super tight.
But caffeine will.
Caffeine will hold my interest.
Other updates that I can share with you.
I’m hard at work on my next album.
Hard at work is definitely overstating it, but I continue to work on my next album, which has the theme of…
I don’t know if I’m going to call it holiday bangers or holidays without bangers.
Holiday bangers is more accurate.
Holidays without bangers reminds me of Doctors Without Borders, which is funny to me for some reason.
But I’m basically writing songs for all the holidays that don’t have enough cool songs, and I can’t decide what’s the right album name.
So feel free to let me know your opinion through whatever means you wish to contact me.
But I’m very excited about it.
I got another song done.
I don’t think I said any of those words right.
I think I said dung, too.
I got another song done this week, and I’m proud of it.
Pleased with it.
So hopefully that’ll inspire me to get more done because I want to get that out.
Maybe I’ll say by end of year.
We’ll see.
Anyway, I hope you’re having a wonderful Thursday, August 14th.
More soon.
Lex.
