Thank you to those of you who had kind things to say about my Earth Day song.
Two of you, that’s right, literally two of you said it reminded you of Britpop.
So I’ll take that, I don’t know, as a compliment.
I’ll take that under advisement.
I’ll take that to the bank.
I don’t know.
I can’t identify a lot of Britpop, but I’m glad to know that I could sound like it.
But here’s my favorite thing.
One person said yesterday, hey, it’s not just Earth Day, it’s also Administrative Professionals Day.
Where’s your song about that?
And here’s the thing, my friends, I have one.
Your Daily Lex.
This is not a joke or a bit.
My ongoing project of Holiday Bangers includes a song for Administrative Professionals Day, which used to be called Secretaries Day, which the song makes reference to.
So I guess I’ll include that one.
That was also yesterday.
It’s Administrative Professionals Week, and the Wednesday of Administrative Professionals Week is Administrative Professionals Day.
And so I just thought it was so funny.
I was like, hey, that’s this day too.
You should have made a song about that.
And I totally had.
Just funny.
What else can I tell you?
Tonight, all of us who live currently in this house, so everybody but Ani, who is still in Boston, we’re going to go see Eve of MVP.
That’s the music and video production high school that Liam goes to their big end of year performance.
Yesterday was the first night.
We didn’t have to go because Liam wasn’t in that one.
Now, Lauren had already volunteered to help out both nights, so she did have to go.
And Liam has to go and watch it both nights.
Well, watch that he’s not in it and be in the night he isn’t.
But he’ll be in, I think, three bands.
And as I think I was saying, most ninth graders are not, but he’s really musically talented, so he indeed is.
So we’ll get to see him perform three songs, so that’ll be fun no matter what.
And so it was funny.
Yesterday, Lauren and Liam had to leave early so they could go to this thing.
So Sierra and I were going to have dinner together.
And then Sierra called out to me and she’s like, hey, I’m going to the gym with a friend, so I’m going to eat early.
And I was like, OK, I’ll be lonely.
Sierra ate early.
As soon as she finished, I was ready to come eat.
And she’s like, by the way, I’m no longer going to the gym yet.
I’m going to go to the gym later.
I was like, oh, OK.
But she went upstairs to do stuff, which, fine.
I wasn’t going to say, hey, sit with me and do nothing while I eat so we can hang out.
Sometimes I would actually pull that card, but I know she’s got plenty of schoolwork right now.
And then she still wasn’t going to the gym.
So I was like, hey, I’m going to take a walk.
Do you want to take a walk?
And she’s like, no, because I’m going to go to the gym in a bit.
I was like, OK.
So I take a walk.
The second I come back from my walk, she’s like, OK, I’m going to the gym now.
So I maximized my time not with Sierra yesterday, which is not our intent.
We like to hang out.
So she went to the gym and I went to the basement and I watched much of the movie Casino, which I had seen before, but I was kind of in the mood to watch for reasons that I can’t explain.
I did not like it as much as I liked it the last time I saw it, which might have been the first time I saw it.
How paradoxical.
I also didn’t finish it.
I finished it today, this morning, on the treadmill, because two and a half hours in, wow, it’s a long movie.
That’s when Lauren and Liam came home.
And rather than stay in the basement and keep watching the movie that I was only somewhat enjoying, I came up and saw them instead.
They were not huge fans of the first night of the Eve of MVP show, but that’s okay.
We’ll like tonight more, because Liam will be in it, and that’s how it goes.
Anyway, without further ado, or with just a small smidgen of ado, but whatever quantity of ado this is, here’s another preview from my forthcoming and still unfinished album, Holiday Bangers.
Here’s a song called Administrative Professionals Day.
There will be cake, there will be a card, no one appreciates that these jobs are hard.
My calendar shows a break right at two, we know what that means for people like me and you.
It’s Administrative Professionals Day, put your laptop and notebook and headset away.
It’s Administrative Professionals Day, thanks for everything you do is what my boss should say.
I schedule their meetings, I field all their calls, I help when their inbox surges past their eyeballs.
I organize files, I book all their travel, I unjam the printer so that they don’t unravel.
It’s Administrative Professionals Day, put your laptop and notebook and headset away.
It’s Administrative Professionals Day, thanks for everything you do, that’s what my boss should say.
This day used to be called Secretary’s Day, but now it no longer is.
We’re Administrative Professionals and you need us to run your biz.
It’s Administrative Professionals Day, put your laptop and notebook and headset away.
It’s Administrative Professionals Day, thanks for everything you do, that’s what my boss should say.
Lex.
