Hi, this is Andy Slater.

I am thrilled to return as a guest of Your Daily Lex.

In fact, I’m really not just thrilled.

That’s an understatement.

I’m really excited.

Actually, I am Lex-cited.

So everyone, it is great to be back here.

I last guested on Your Daily Lex, I guess about two years ago, and wasn’t sure I’d be invited back if Lex ever gave me the opportunity to do this.

So thank you, Lex.

It is Saturday morning as I record this.

Lex has been away for a week, and I did realize that I needed to get this done for him while he was away.

So here I am, really needing to set the record straight first and foremost before I really dig in.

Last week, there was an episode, I believe he titled it Diet Coke.

And in that episode, Lex asked me if it would be okay if he ran in the house to use the bathroom.

And my response was just, seriously?

It’s not that I did not want him, nor would I deny him using the bathroom in my house.

It was just funny because it’s like, dude, you live four minutes away.

You can’t hold it in?

Anyway, apparently Tiny Tanks couldn’t.

So he also texted my wife, and of course she said yes because she’s nicer than me anyway.

And the big thing is when someone comes into the house unexpected is we just have to manage our dog Lily because she’s a bit of an a-hole.

But everything worked out.

Lex did come into the house.

He did use our bathroom.

He wasn’t there a little longer than one might expect, but we weren’t keeping a timer on him and it’s all good.

Anyway, I just wanted to set the record straight that I’m really not that horrible of a person.

I would never deny Lex or anyone for that matter from using the restroom if they really needed to go.

So that aside, as I was saying, it’s Saturday morning.

I am exhausted.

Just had this three-day bender of concerts that I was going to.

I love going to live music.

I’m a big music person, big vinyl collector, all that good stuff.

That has transferred to my 19-year-old daughter who loves to go to live music also.

So she’s home from college for the summer.

She and I went down to Philadelphia on Wednesday to see Joe and Tame Impala.

Joe is actually spelled D-J-O, Joe I call him, but that’s like his alter ego because his name is Joe.

I forgot his last name, but he’s an actor.

He was on Stranger Things.

He played Steve, but also he has a music career.

I never watched Stranger Things.

I know I need to, but those of you listening, that’s the reference.

And then Tame Impala was the headliner.

They’re a fun kind of trippy, trancy kind of band with lots of long songs and synthesizers and lights and lasers and all that good stuff.

I would say they are probably a band best enjoyed when you’re in some type of altered state.

But being that I was with my 19-year-old daughter, we decided we would just be high on life and the secondhand vape smoke in the arena.

Thursday was actually my wedding anniversary.

My wife Jill and I celebrated our 20th wedding anniversary.

We went into New York City to see Bon Jovi, and that was great.

Another thing that was on TV last year that was streaming, I believe on Hulu, was a Bon Jovi documentary.

If you haven’t seen it, you should watch it.

You don’t have to be from New Jersey nor love Bon Jovi to enjoy this documentary.

But he’s gone through some challenges with his voice, with his vocal cords, throat surgery, things like that.

So it was really never known what he would sound like again after all of that.

And he sounded great.

He’s doing 10 nights at Madison Square Garden.

It was a great show.

Pretty much played all the songs you’d want to hear.

Not hitting the high notes he was hitting in the 1980s, but the guy’s 64 years old, so we can cut him a break on that.

And then last night, Friday, I was back out with my daughter again in Asbury Park at this cool little club called House of Independence to see an indie rock band, Axe and the Hatchet Men.

They were a lot of fun.

There was a show streaming on Prime Video last year called The Runarounds.

I highly recommend that.

It’s a very digestible eight-episode series about a high school rock band and their life after high school.

So a lot of fun.

Great music in that.

Axel, hence the name Axe and the Hatchet Men, is one of the guys that’s in The Runarounds, and he has his own band.

So that was a lot of fun, although I will say I felt really old.

I think you could have taken the age of any three people in that venue and added them up, and they would still be younger than me.

So that was a little sobering, but I just hung out in the back by the bar, speaking of sober, where a couple of other parents were hanging out while the kids were down in the pit doing their thing.

And I’m at the five-minute mark, a little past, so that’s really all I have to say.

Be nice to Lex so you are invited back to be a guest on his show.

Let him use the bathroom and enjoy live music.
