I had a busy weekend, and sometimes I like to have a chill weekend.

This was not one of those, but it was still a good weekend, just not chill.

It was busy.

Did I mention busy?

Let me tell you all about it.

Earlier in the week, Lauren had won tickets, or won the lottery, the Broadway lottery to go see Schmigadoon.

When you win a Broadway lottery, it doesn’t mean you get the tickets for free.

It means you get to pay less than they cost.

In this case, we paid, I think, $50 a ticket, which is still quite a lot of money.

With the Hamilton lottery, at least it used to be, they were $10 if you won it, but nobody else has that.

So anyway, we won tickets to see Schmigadoon, and we went to see Schmigadoon on Friday.

And you may have seen me tell this story on Instagram or on Mastodon, but during her final big number, Ana Gasteyer stumbles and falls to the floor while she’s descending a few steps, and a member of the ensemble immediately picks her up and she keeps going.

And it happens so fast that at first you’re like, Was that supposed to happen?

Was that real?

And then I noticed that one of the other leads was laughing a little bit.

And then while delivering this angry diatribe monologue, Ana Gasteyer, she’s yelling at both the ensemble, who are the townsfolk on stage, and at us, the audience, that we are all like bits of toilet paper.

And as she says it, she just crumples to the floor and starts cracking up because it is very funny to her and us, now that we realize that she had stumbled and fallen to the ground.

And now when she breaks, the entire ensemble breaks, the entire cast breaks.

I will give credit that Alex Brightman—excuse me, Alex Brightman, who also played Beetlejuice, among many other roles—that he barely broke.

But everybody breaks.

She gets herself together.

The audience, of course, loses their minds, cheering and laughing and loving him.

She gets it together.

Then one of the leads of the show, Sarah Chase, is like holding up Ana Gasteyer’s dress as she walks to do more dialogue so that she won’t trip on it again, which was funny.

And the show gets to the end.

They do the curtain call, and then at the very last moment of the final bow, you see Brightman turn to Sarah Chase.

He’s like, Should we do it?

And then they fall down, and the ensemble immediately, as it was happening, and they all fall down.

So everybody except for Ana Gasteyer is falling down.

Ana Gasteyer can hardly keep it together.

It was very funny.

Later, Ana Gasteyer shared my post on Instagram, so I believe that she and I are now best friends.

I think that’s just stated law.

Settled law.

That’s the word, settled law.

And yeah, it was great.

Saturday I ran the comedy sports rehearsal, which was a music-themed rehearsal.

That was fun, at least for me.

And then I was the ref for our comedy sports match.

That was fun.

Sunday I met a friend for coffee, and then we went to see her boyfriend, my friend John, in a production of Hair.

Lauren had seen Hair the previous night while I was doing comedy sports, but we saw the musical Hair, which, you know, fine musical.

And then I had a band practice for so long, a three-hour band practice where I was standing for all three hours.

Then I came home and sat, and then went to bed.

It was great.

Anyway, that was my weekend.

People should know who and what they are.

Anyway, my week is off to a good and busy start, and that’s all I got.
