My day didn’t start well, and I am choosing to believe that means it can only get better.

I mean, it’s 12:49 and I just had lunch, and lunch is always a highlight of my day, so it has gotten better.

But yeah, it didn’t start great.

Your daily Lex.

Today was my early day, and I like to get downstairs before Sierra drives to school and Liam’s gonna get the bus to school.

Sierra could drive Liam, but he doesn’t want to be driven by her for reasons that defy all logic, mostly because he’d have to be ready like five minutes earlier.

I don’t know, it’s dumb.

And she can only drive him half the days because of rules.

Anyway, she doesn’t drive him any of the days because he doesn’t want her to.

So I say goodbye to Sierra, watch her go out to the car, and then she starts texting me like, I can’t get the car to go.

Please help.

Come, come, come, come.

And like, I come as soon as I see these messages, but of course she’s panicking, so she sends me a hundred.

She is still driving our pretty old at this point Tesla Model X, the car that we intend to replace very soon, and it wouldn’t start.

She could unlock it.

She could tell it to start, but the screens wouldn’t light up and you couldn’t put it into drive.

There are ways you can reboot the screen from inside the car.

There’s ways you can do a soft reboot or a kind of hard reboot.

Neither of them did anything.

And she’s like, How am I going to get to school?

Like, how’s this going to work?

My day— I’m like, You’re going to be fine because you’re going to get on the bus that Liam’s going to get on in a few minutes, which she did, you know, begrudgingly.

She did forget her coffee at home, which made her sad.

Also, it’s hilarious to me that she drinks coffee, but what are you going to do?

Anyway, so it’s funny just because nobody else in my family except for me drinks coffee, and she never did.

Went to summer camp and decided she liked coffee, and now she drinks coffee.

Amazing.

Anyway, so I spend more time working on the car.

I’m trying to get it to be alive.

It’s fully charged.

It had been charging all night, but it wouldn’t turn on.

And eventually I decide I’m going to contact Tesla, and they’re like, Well, you have to have us tow it to us, or you can, you know, use your own tow preference company.

And I was like, Okay.

And my insurance provides free towing.

Well, you know, free because I pay them thousands of dollars in insurance, and they towed it to Tesla, except that was a nightmare because the tow truck had to, A, come and, B, successfully tow the car.

The first part was a challenge just because it’s a tow truck company, and they were very friendly and informative, and they let me know, hey, this other one that we were supposed to tow, the guy locked his keys in the car now, and so we can’t get in, and we have to wait for him to come back with other keys because he screwed it up.

So we’re delayed, but they eventually get here.

And when I point out to the guy that, hey, I can’t start the car, so I can’t put it in tow mode, and you can’t just tow a Tesla; it has to be in tow mode, we had some fun.

We had to manually open the frunk, and then we had to juice the car’s low-voltage battery for a while to get what turned out to be six seconds of power so that we could put the car in tow mode.

But then we couldn’t turn off tow mode, which meant I had to stay in the car on the brake, and we very carefully navigated it down the driveway and onto the tow truck.

It was all annoying.

Then at the Tesla dealership, dude couldn’t get the car to unlock, and I was like, You’re gonna have to ask Tesla.

I wasn’t there, right?

He’s texting me, You’re gonna have to ask Tesla.

It’s not responding to anything.

It’s totally screwed up.

They’re gonna have to do some Tesla magic on it, which they did.

Tesla currently says they need five days to fix it, so that’s fun.

And of course, Sierra is freaking out because she needs the car.

It’s a disaster.

Then there was a plumbing incident at the house.

Everything’s fine now.

We’re not going to get into it, but it was just more suckitude.

And then I fought with a glass—we call them Tupperwares, but they’re not—you know, a glass food storage container, because it had leftover turkey meatloaf and I wanted it, and the lid did not want to come off.

And boy, did I invent some clever new swear word terms.

It was pretty great.

Anyway, my day can only improve now, I would like to believe.

And actually, some really nice updates to Siri.

The nicest of all is still in App Store review, but I bet it’ll come out later today because App Store review for updates has been on fire.

So hopefully that’ll come out.

It’s just a much cleaner main menu and some UI refinement.

So I like that.

Rehearsal’s going well.

Tonight we’ve got to go to back-to-school night.

In fact, we’ll take two cars to back-to-school night so that we can leave one for Sierra, who is performing at back-to-school night and then has to go perform somewhere else because she is a busy kid.

I love so much, and this is sarcasm, that I’m spending money to fix this stupid effing Tesla that I intend to get rid of in days or weeks when my new car arrives.

Shout out to listener Billo, who ordered his just a few minutes after I ordered mine for these new Rivian R2s, and his—he already has a VIN and a delivery date.

I don’t even have a VIN.

Stupid.

Annoying.

I was complaining.

Friend of the show and occasional guest host Casey says that a friend of his who works at Rivian says it could just be like, What colors are available where?

But we got the default color, the no extra charge whatever.

It’s stupid.

I’m annoyed at everything.

I hope you’re having a great day.

Goodbye.

Lex.
