I’m having a harder time than I used to finding apps in my dock.

That’s not the point of this episode.

It’s just a thing that is true.

I don’t know if it’s because I have more apps going or because I use more things or because icons all look the same now in the latest versions of macOS where they don’t let the shape be as relevant.

But I’m having a harder time than I used to, and it is annoying.

But this episode is about my weekend and its highs and, wait for it, lows.

Your daily Lex.

It was one of those weekends where you’re like, boy, I could use a weekend after that.

It was a good weekend, though.

I enjoyed it up until Sunday night, which I did not enjoy at all.

Friday, I hosted the live game show things with the improv theater I work with, Shore Thing Theater and Comedy Sports.

This was not a Comedy Sports thing.

It was a game show, and we had normal people as contestants, and we had improvisers as their teammates, and we played classic TV games.

We did our version of Match Game, our version of Password, and our version of the $25,000 Pyramid.

What was fun was, to avoid making lawyers angry—not that they would care—we renamed everything.

So it was Matchy Matchy and Word Pass and Triangle 25.

Just amused me that we were dumb about it, but it was fun.

And then there was Saturday, my dear friends.

And on Saturday, we got a new car.

We had been on the waiting list to get an R2, the new version of Rivian’s SUV, for a long, long time, and finally it became available, and we were delighted.

And— That’s Lauren’s car.

And luckily for us, Lauren is content that it is shorter a little bit than my car, the R1S from Rivian, and she doesn’t feel like she has to hoist herself into it because we were going to potentially have to get the running boards, you know, the things you can install across the side of the car so that she could get in.

Those are third party and it’d be a whole thing, but we don’t have to, so that’s good.

But that was exciting.

And then Lauren was a little bit nervous to drive it, which I think happens when you get a new car, but she made it happen.

She did it.

She’s doing great.

It’s a cool car.

We’re having fun.

Then what else can I tell you about that day?

We had dinner with friends, which was lovely, and we saw a show, Evita, which was, let’s just say, lovely.

And then Sunday, I took Liam and another kid to another marching band thing.

There’s always a marching band thing.

This was a Halloween parade, so Liam had to go in costume, as did the other kid.

Whenly gave a ride to the other kid, who did not speak a single word the entire time.

That kid was dressed as a stormtrooper, and because I am a dad, when he got in the car, I said, Hey, how come you didn’t wear a costume?

I thought it was funny.

He said nothing.

He didn’t say thank you for the ride.

He said nothing the entire time.

It was great.

But so we did that, and then I had a read-through for an indie film I’m participating in, and great day.

And then I was noticing some internet issues, and I’m not going to regale you with the entire story of my three hours on the phone again with Eero.

Not for the first time, but for the second time in the past couple of months.

But you can read all about it on lexontech.org.

And yeah, that was man, oh man.

I do not want to give you the whole rundown, but it was horrible.

I was on the phone with them from around 8:30 until around 11:30, and no fun.

Let’s see.

Like I said, read about it on Lexon Tech.

I’m also so excited this week because it’s my first ever sponsor on lexontech.org, and— They, um, it’s of course, it’s Rogue Amoeba, my friend Paul Kafasis, and Rogue Amoeba is promoting their app Audio Hijack, and I use Audio Hijack every single day.

So it’s just all very exciting for me.

I’m very happy about it, and it’s fun.

I’m like, it’s like it’s a real site now.

I got members, I got readers, and now I got advertisers.

Fantastic.

Honestly, I’m doing well enough.

I hear it.

I’m doing well enough selling advertisers for my website that I’m like, should I make a little business selling these for other people’s websites, like Stephen Hackett and Jason Snell and a few other folks have these sites that have weekly sponsors and could use some support with it.

Should I do that?

And my answer currently is, I don’t know.

I’m thinking about it.

I’m nearly sold out for the rest of the year.

And that sounds like a huge thing when I say it, but it’s not that much year left, realistically, especially when you only have one advertiser a week.

But I’m thinking about it.

Maybe I will do it.

Who knows?

Maybe I won’t.

Anyway, that’s all my updates.

That’s all my updates.

Boy, I tried to say that all as one word.

Oh, here’s the other fun thing that I didn’t say yet.

When I wrote on my site today about my issues with Eero and my thoughts about maybe I’m going to buy Ubiquiti routers, and then eventually I did order some Ubiquiti routers.

I don’t even know when they’re going to arrive.

Ubiquiti is a competitor to Eero.

It was expensive.

I spent a bunch of money.

But one side perk, side benefit of ordering these things is a friend of the show and occasional guest host of the show, Casey Liss, is very excited by it, and he reached out.

He’s like, Let’s talk, and we spoke for half an hour where he gave me advice on how I should set up the network and things I should think about, and that was all very cool, I thought.

So listen, if the worst thing that comes from switching my network from Eero to Ubiquiti is I get to talk to Casey more, like, that’s a win.

That’s all I’m saying.

Anyway, happy Monday.

Goodbye.
