Friend of the show, friend of the Lex, Dan Moren is on paternity leave, so congratulations to that friend of mine.

But because of that paternity leave, I’ve been covering Dan’s weekly radio spot.

Fun fact, I don’t even know what the radio station is, but once a week on Tuesdays, which is today, Dan does a spot at 3:06 p.m.

at some radio station, and they ask him a few questions about technology.

And so, like I said, I’ve been covering.

And it’s funny because they send the topics ahead of time, and then I’m like, well, how much homework do I want to do for this unpaid thing?

They promote LexonTech.org, which is great, as did I just now, I guess.

It’s KTRS is the station.

But it’s just, it’s such a funny thing because it is such a radio show, and I don’t listen to terrestrial radio anymore.

That’s not like saying I don’t watch TV.

I don’t think, because I do watch plenty of TV, but I never listen to terrestrial radio.

I listen to podcasts.

I listen to streaming music.

But I was describing the show to Lauren, and I’m like, there’s this person and this person and this person, and I kind of did generic versions of their roles.

And she’s like, wow, you just described every talk radio show, or not even talk, but like drive-time radio show.

Because there’s the woman with the incredibly smooth voice, and there’s the guy who’s got like kind of the crazy voice, and there’s the guy who’s trying to keep everything on task, and then there’s me.

The last time I did this show was the first time a week ago, and they continued to express concern that perhaps I was secretly Dan because they thought I sounded like him and had the same personality as him, just underscoring Dan and my ongoing belief that we are basically the same person.

Anyway, here’s your Daily Lex.

Your Daily Lex.

Will I finish this episode before they call me on my cell phone?

Which, by the way, is the weirdest part of the radio gig to me.

They call me on my cell phone.

I feel like they should do it over Zoom where I could use a good microphone.

Whatever.

Anywho, yesterday.

I’m trying to think of how I can tell this story without revealing things I shouldn’t reveal.

Yesterday, I was on the phone with a gigantic company, and this company has a podcast, and I was talking to them on behalf of one of my clients about how we could improve their podcast.

And they told me, first of all, you know, we get a lot of pitches and we ignore all of them, but I responded to you because it was clear you had actually listened to our show.

So way to go me, I guess.

But then this person is talking about their show and about how they had this senior executive from the company on the podcast recently as a guest, and I said yes, and I said the person’s name who they had on the show.

And this woman who runs the podcast program, they was like, How do you know that?

I was like, Well, because I took her to her senior prom, my junior prom.

And, you know, sometimes you hear people say, Oh, their jaw dropped, and people use it as an expression, right?

It’s a cliché.

But this woman’s jaw did drop.

She could not believe that I had taken the senior executive who was just the guest on their podcast, senior executive from that company, that I had taken her to her senior prom.

I was a huge fan of this girl in high school.

She was obviously a year ahead of me.

We were in multiple musicals together.

I had, you know, massive crush on her.

It was essentially unrequited.

She’s now married to a woman.

That makes a lot of sense.

It couldn’t have been that she didn’t find me charming and endearing, but anyway, it was just so funny to watch this woman’s jaw drop when I told her that.

Anyway, what else can I tell you?

Tomorrow.

Tomorrow is the first read-through for the new play I’m doing.

Well, it’s not a new play, but the play that’s new to me, for my new project, for Arsenic and Old Lace.

So I’m looking forward to that read-through because although I’ve seen the movie once, I think it’ll be nice to hear the play and know what the actual story is of the play and get that sense.

So I’m looking forward to the read-through.

And I said it’s tomorrow.

It’s possible it’s Thursday.

It’s on my calendar, and I’m checking because it matters to you, I know.

It looks like it is tomorrow.

Like I said, it’s Wednesday.

Okay, so we’ve got that going for us.

And another exciting thing I can tell you is, he said, not stalling in any way, I have, you know, a variety of apps out there, as you may know, lexfreeman.com/apps, and I have a variety of apps that are not released.

Some that may never be released, and some that just aren’t good enough yet, and some of them I’m making itty-bitty progress on, so that’s exciting too.

That’s quite a teaser because I’ve said basically nothing.

But yeah, I have an app that’s helping me with my inbox.

And believe me, I love and use MimeStream every day for email on both the Mac and iOS.

So I’m not making an email client.

I’m making something else, but it’s really helping me, and I use it a lot.

It’s still not quite ready for humans, but it’s getting there.

Anyway, they should be calling me any second now for my radio hit with KTRS in somewhere.

I don’t know where, but it’s a great station and everybody should listen to it.

And it’s in St.

Louis, which everybody knows.

We are arch rivals.

Ha ha.

Get it?

St.

Louis arch.

Okay, goodbye.
